It’s Juventus meet Roma at Allianz Stadium in 3rd round of Serie A on Saturday 27 August.

At the Allianz Stadium on Saturday, Juventus takes on fellow Scudetto aspirants Roma in a matchup of early title contenders.

The teams meet in Turin with the visitors having accumulated the most points thus far, while Juve has lost twice since winning the season-opening match of Serie A.

In the Monday stalemate with Sampdoria, Juventus, who were depleted by injuries for their first road trip of the season, appeared to be content with a point in the second half after spending a large portion of the first half on the back foot.

Without the enchantment of summer additions Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba to motivate them and provide opportunities for a disgruntled Dusan Vlahovic, who scarcely put his boot on the ball at Marassi, Max Allegri’s team appeared to regress to type against well-drilled opposition.

Despite receiving a royal welcome upon arrival and appearing to have adapted to his new surroundings in the Eternal City without incident, Dybala has yet to score for Roma in Serie A.

In fact, the Giallorossi’s match-winning goals in both of their opening two games came from less expected sources. Bryan Cristante scored the winning goal against Salernitana, while Chris Smalling scored the game-winning goal against Cremonese the previous weekend.

No side has attempted more attempts on goal or hit the target more frequently (17 – tied with Inter) than Roma thus far, while Juventus has only managed to reach about half of their totals in both categories.

But they have undoubtedly benefited from playing against weaker competition, and the capital club’s recurring troubles against the top six have not been resolved by the hiring of its charismatic coach in the summer.

Along with a slew of other losses to Calcio’s powerhouses, Jose Mourinho was defeated by Juve twice last season, including a stunning 4-3 loss at Stadio Olimpico.

He will be anticipating much better things from the 2022–23 season, which begins this weekend in Turin, after an impressive recruitment effort over the previous few weeks.

Roma’s Paulo Dybala, a forward used to scoring frequently in Turin, makes his return to a venue where he leads the league in goals scored in all competitions (68).
