-
Alexia Putellas is the captain of female Barcelona team.
She has reached a level that no one else does in this season. She has scored 11 goals in the champions league and led the team of Barcelona to the final.
Even though lost to Olympique Lyonnais by a 1-3, she was awarded the shooter, also the player of 21/22 UEFA Women’s Champions League.
- In terms of her great leadership, Barcelona has made a thrilling record of 30 wins and no draws and loses in La Liga this season, which also helps Alexia to be nominated as the player of the year in 2022 by Laureus World Sports Awards.
Her tactics and abilities to score are needed by the current Spanish team so badly. They can rely on this scoring machine in this competition.
-
Irene Paredes, who has played for Paris Saint-German and now Barcelona, has known the Spanish and French tactics of women’s football very well.
The 30-year-old center back shows great constancy and stability as a reliable player to hold the defensive line of Spain.
She is a commander who knows when to control the tempo and play fast as an engine to launch an attack from the back.
Aitana Bonmati also plays a role in Barcelona as a midfielder who are capable of attacking and defending.
She is actually regarded as a prospect in Spanish football when she has shown her talent to score and assist at just 24. In fact, she was the second top chance creators in the women’s champions league this season, just behind her captain Alexia Putellas.
She also helped to the team score one of the four goals in 2021 WCL final against Chelsea. She’s got a future to shine.
Manager: Jorge Vilda
40-year-old young manager Jorge Vilda has led the team since 2015. He almost dedicates his coaching career so far to the Spanish squads in U17, U19 and now the national team.
Under his guidance, Spain has lifted the Algarve Cup in 2017 and finished second in the 2020 She Believes Cup.
He definitely wants to hold one more trophy in England.
Pedigree
-
Spain has reached the semi-final at the women’s European Cup in 1997, but that was 25 years ago.
They have been stronger than ever before because of the young talents who become the golden generation of this Spanish squad. But they need to prove what they can actually do in big competitions.
Apparently, the achievement of round of 16 at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is far from good enough for them.
They hope to give their best performance in Weuro 2022.
