Germany vs. Spain World Cup: Seeking Retribution
Spain has won recent encounters between the two teams in competitions; the first being the 2008 European Championship final. Carles Puyol led Spain to the final during their second meeting in South Africa, and Spain won the second meeting 6-0 in 2020.
Robert Lewandowski vs Lionel Messi
The winner of FIFA’s The Best award and the current reigning champion will square off against the Ballon d’Or. The two will compete for first place in Group C and have a great deal of respect for one another.
Tata Martino vs Argentina
Tata Martino’s Mexico and Robert Lewandowski’s Poland will oppose Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina. Tata, who was born in Rosario, was an international for Argentina and even served as their coach from 2014 to 2016.
Derbies in Group B
There will be a British derby as well, with either Wales or Scotland joining them following their play-off this summer, in addition to the English-language derby between England and the United States. Iran will also be a challenge for the US.
Cristiano Ronaldo vs Luis Suarez
Those two forwards meet once again. Both Suarez and Cristiano will be playing in their fourth World Cups. They’ve had several previous encounters, most frequently on each side of El Clasico. They will now compete to represent their respective nations.
