Outsiders

Many nations aspire to be like the Modric-led Croatia of last year. The current African champions Senegal have great athletes including Mane, Sarr, Gueye, Koulibaly, and Mendy.

With Eriksen back in the lineup, European semi-finalists and league leaders Denmark keep up their impressive play. Mexico and the United States can battle back, but Serbia and their offense (Vlahovic, Tadic, Mitrovic) are usually difficult to defeat.

lewandowski

With talents like Lewandowski, Son, and Bale, other teams like Poland, South Korea, and Wales may succeed.

Football Stars

There won’t be a lack of celebrities in Qatar. For the World Cup championship, players like Mbappe, Benzema, Griezmann, Neymar, Vinicius, Casemiro, Messi, Lautaro, Dybala, Lewandowski, Mane, Modric, Cristiano, Bruno Fernandes, Joao Felix, Kane, Foden, Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Darwin, Luis Suarez, Van Dijk, De Jong, Vlahovic, Bale,

Absences

Alexis Sanchez, Haaland (Norway), Salah (Egypt), Mahrez (Algeria), Alaba (Austria), Ibrahimovic (Sweden), Luis Diaz (Colombia), Oblak (Slovenia), and Donnarumma (and their excellent players, Verratti, Chiesa) won’t be there (Chile).

Players to Watch

A number of names will become household names, just like every World Cup before.

Manuel Ugarte, a 21-year-old midfielder for Sporting Lisbon and Uruguay, Senegal and Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, 19.

The USA and Augsburg striker Ricardo Pepi, 19.

Some names to watch out for are 20-year-old Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana and Rennes.

Learn More About World Cup 2022

For the first time ever, the World Cup will be staged in an Arab nation, and all eight stadiums will be within 70 kilometers of one another.

  • It will take place between November 21 and December 18 during the northern hemisphere’s fall.

  • As there were no tournaments in 1942 and 1946 due to World War II, Qatar’s will be the shortest tournament since Argentina 1978 (28 days) and the longest gap between contests since Brazil 1950.

  • Since France defeated Croatia (4-2) to win the World Cup in Moscow on July 15, 2018, there have been 1,590 days without a World Cup kick.

  • With six Asian teams competing in the tournament—Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the hosts, and Australia, which plays in Asia—Qatar will be the lone nation making its debut. Only Europe has more (13).

  • Wales and Canada also make a comeback after absences of 64 and 36 years, respectively. Brazil has appeared in all 22 World Cups, followed by Germany (18 consecutive appearances), Argentina (13) and Spain (12).

  • Additionally, it will be Messi and Cristiano’s fifth World Cup, tying the mark set by Mexico’s Carbajal and Marquez, Germany’s Matthaus, Italy’s Buffon, and Germany’s Matthaus.

If they are called up, their countrymen Ochoa and Guardado may also reach that goal. Follow us on tiktok for more information!
